AMD Raids Dell and Hires Alienware’s Co-Founder Frank Azor

Recently, we have seen shakeups at major computer companies with rivals poaching talent from competitors. Just recently, Dell Alienware lost to AMD its co-founder and head of Alienware and XPS divisions. Frank Azor is set to become AMD’s Chief Gaming Officer and will report to Sandeep Chennakeshu who heads the Computing and Graphics Department.

Frank Azor has been among the longest serving employees at Alienware. Together with Alex Aguila and Nelson Gonzalez, they formed Alienware and headed it until Dell acquired it. He had worked with Dell for a good 13 years, and now it was time to scale new heights. He takes to AMD a wealth of expertise considering he had transformed Alienware into one of the best PC gaming brands, generating sales of more than $3 billion annually together with the XPS Division.

Apparently, he is not the only one on the move in recent times. We have also witnessed Intel hiring two new talents: John Sells from Microsoft and Jim Keller, formerly of AMD and Apple. These new shifts are expected to spur rigorous competition among the two processor and GPU heavyweights.
